Satisfied student. Financial aid department sucks — Nov 25, 2009
By Michael M, Marshalltown, IA | 5th year
Bachelors in Social Science & Psychology, Online only
I have enjoyed every aspect of learning at UoP. My only complaint is in the Finance Department, I still have a credit for my account not showing and creating an improper balance owed.

A New Start — Nov 19, 2009
By Kiyanna D, Compton, CA | 3rd year
Bachelors in Medical & Nursing, Online only
The college that I attend is great. I appreciate the faculty, students, and administrators. My family and I lost a very close relative this year and we all could not handle losing our beloved aunt. In spite of our devastating loss my college extended their sympathy. My counselors used encouraging words to help me along the way so I could complete and pass my classes. Again, I appreciate University of Phoenix.

Enrollment counselor is great — Sep 17, 2009
By Cristin W | 2nd year
Associates in Medical & Nursing, Online only
I have had good instructors for the most part. The classes are small enough for the instructors to interact with the students. My enrollment counselor is great, I think that she is the best thing about the school.

Classes are informative and enjoyable — Sep 12, 2009
By Katheryn H | 2nd year

Most classes are informative and enjoyable. Your knowledge base is increased and you are kept abreast of the changes in the area of your degree preference. Teachers are available to assist you when needed. You must be able to be structured and determined without procrastination. I love this program.
Schedule is great for a busy lifestyle — Sep 11, 2009
By Kris P | 2nd year
Bachelors in Social Science & Psychology, Campus only
The schedule is great for a busy lifestyle. A great school to be at if you want to be creative with your learning. The classes are small, and the teachers take an effort to help you learn at your level or learning type. Availability of financial aid is a weakness.

Saves time and can balance a flexible schedule — Sep 11, 2009
By LaDonna P | 2nd year
Masters in Business & MBA, Online only
University of Phoenix is a good opportunity. It saves time and allows you to balance a flexible schedule while continuing your education. I am a full-time employee with four children and I have never felt overwhelmed or pressed for time since I have became a student of University of Phoenix. Sometimes when I contact the academic counselor or financial counselor I leave with the feeling that I ask too many questions or that I'm bothering them.
Good choice for working people, parents, adults — Sep 11, 2009
By Cecelia C | 1st year
Bachelors in Business & MBA, Online only
Attending the University of Phoenix would be a good choice for working people, parents, and adults pursuing their education. I like it because you are taking classes online and you only have two classes per nine weeks which keeps you focused on a little at a time. Everyone is so helpful and concerned about your education.
Can do while working and meeting family demands — Sep 11, 2009
By Paul S | 4th year
Bachelors in Computers & IT, Online only
To finish your degree, while working and meeting family demands, this is a great option. Sometimes the instructors either do not seem knowledgeable enough, or interested in other topics than the course is inteded to teach.
Research your financial aid carefully — Sep 11, 2009
By Leslie E | 2nd year
Associates in Medical & Nursing, Online only
I would recommend researching your financial aid very carefully and knowing how it all works. The biggest problem I have had is with financial aid department and them trying to explain to me how my disbursements work and the cost of my classes keep changing. The curriculum and actual teaching staff are very good and so are the academic counselors at letting you know what you need to do to suceed. I just cannot express enough how important knowing about your finacial aid is. Do not rely on the school to do it for you.
Teachers always answer my questions — Sep 11, 2009
By Peggy G | 1st year
Bachelors in Social Science & Psychology, Online only
So far, I would say the support I am getting from everyone is great, they eliminated my fears. The teachers always answer my questions. They encourage them. I even have their personal cell numbers. The class work is explained in detail and if it's not good enough I can call or ask one of my class mates. I even encourage family and friends to sit with me while I am online so they can see first hand.

Not so good — Sep 10, 2009
By Amitra S | 2nd year
Bachelors in Computers & IT, Both online and campus
Make sure you speak with more than one academic counselor because of the non-uniform information each counselor gives. Financial aid takes too long, not many in-school scholarships. Tuition amount is high. Inconsistency of instructors' curriculum.

By Cynthia K | 3rd year

By TaMarra C | 1st year

Make sure that you are disciplined enough to do at-home work and never be afraid to try because rather than fail you would most likely succeed. Take full advantage of all resources available. There are fewer options for financial aid possibilities.
Material is comprehensible and well organized — Sep 10, 2009
By Janet | 2nd year

All material is comprehensible, and well organized. The instructors provide feedback in a timely manner, and are all very knowledgeable. Everything is laid out in a way which I can truly say that more knowledge was gained. No job placement services.

Online school is expensive and not for everyone — Sep 10, 2009
By Chatel C | 4th year

I would tell a prospective student that online school is expensive and not for everyone. It takes a great deal of dedication and self-focus and drive to be successful in online school and it's not by far easy at all.
Great experience at the University of Phoenix — Sep 10, 2009
By Sharon S | 3rd year
Bachelors in Social Science & Psychology, Campus only
I have had a great experience at the University of Phoenix. I would tell a prospective student to put in 100% toward reaching their goal, take advantage of the resources (math tutoring and the center for writing excellence), adhere to the advice of the faculty and be a good team member. Sometimes the course curriculum is a little weak and should be more tailored to the subject matter.

It is a self taught program. There is a facilitator to monitor your activities. But all assignments are up to you. The overall instructions for each assignment could be better.
Best way to get an education, in your own time — Sep 10, 2009

Pretty good school, the cost is just high — Sep 10, 2009
By Brad W | 1st year
Bachelors in Business & MBA, Online only
So far it had been good, but last term I had a little disagreement with a grade the instructor gave me. It wound up costing me an additional 1,300.00 to retake the class and remain in school. Otherwise it has been a pretty good school, the cost is just high.

Have to know how to manage your time — Sep 10, 2009
By Sandra L | 1st year
Masters in Education & Teaching, Online only
You have to know how to manage your time. Don't rely on anyone, not even the students who seem reliable (in your team). Always ask questions and log in every single day (at least three times a day) just to read over things. It is online so meeting classmates for team projects are extremely difficult and stressful. Financial advisors never get back to us.
Great because I do homework when I have the time — Sep 10, 2009
By Tammy G | 4th year
Bachelors in Business & MBA, Online only
Great because I can do homework when I have the time, but the expectancy and amount of work required by the student is considerably high. This has been an excellent experience for me and I have done an exceptional job with this as it pushes me to exceed my limits. Variations among requirement of the teachers that are not discovered until past the first week, leaving only three to four weeks to fix the problem before the end of class.

Some of the instructors don’t know how to teach — Sep 10, 2009
By Teresa M | 3rd year
Masters in Education & Teaching, Campus only
The team involvement isn't a plus (which is what the University of Phoenix lists as an advantage.) Some of the instructors are not quite certain of how to teach a class and if you are not older (30 and up) you may not be getting the best education you can get, but will pay a fortune for it.
Instructors give good feedback — Sep 10, 2009

Online school has been the best thing — Sep 10, 2009
By Jefferson H | 1st year
Masters in Social Science & Psychology, Online only
I graduated high school in 2005 and decided that I needed a break. Four years later I came to a realization that I needed to go back to school and become someone. Being away from school for some time made me scared to go back. Online school has been the best thing that I have decided for myself. It is flexible and the staff is great. They are always a phone call or an email away to asist you if there were to be any concerns.
